The objectives of the Independent Data Monitoring Committee are to protect the safety of trial participants, review data reports, review the progress of the trial, and ensure the confidentiality of all trial materials, data and results of monitoring. The Independent Data Monitoring Committee will review effectiveness and safety data on an ongoing basis and may recommend that the Trial Steering Committee stop or amend the trial based on safety findings.
